Who can use the Food Bank?
Anyone affiliated with UM can use the Food Bank. This includes UM students, staff and faculty members.
Do I have to meet certain qualifications to use the Food Bank?
There are no qualifications to use the Food Bank. All University of Mississippi students, faculty, and staff are eligible to shop at the Food Bank. Use the Food Bank as often as you need it, depending on your individual needs.
Do I have to pay to use the Food Bank?
No, you do not have to pay. Using the Food Bank is completely free.
How many times and how often can I use the Food Bank?
There is no limit to how many times you can shop at the Food Bank. Visit as often as you need.
Is there a limit to the number of items I can bring home from the Food Bank?
There is no limit to the number of items you can take. Take what you need.
What do I do if the Food Bank is closed when I visit?
The Food Bank is open during specific hours during fall/spring/summer semesters. Before visiting, check the website for those hours. If you do visit the Food Bank outside of operating hours, call 662-915-2074.
Will my visit to the Food Bank be discreet?
Yes. All Food Bank volunteers attend a mandatory confidentiality training, and providing free, discreet access to whatever you need is our priority. You may be asked to fill out an anonymous survey to help us better serve the UM community. A volunteer may also weigh the food as you leave the Food Bank to estimate the number of meals provided, but this is to help us with our planning and assessment of the Food Bank. You may take as much food as you need.
How do I get to the Food Bank?
The UM Food Bank is located on the University of Mississippi campus, in Kinard Hall room 213, on Rebel Drive. (Kinard is the building in which the University Police Department is located.) Kinard Hall is accessible via the OUT Bus Line. If you drive, feel free to use the parking spot designated for Food Bank visitors.
How many people does the Food Bank serve?
We estimate that the Food Bank serves more than 150 people each year.
I am an Oxford community member. Can I utilize the UM Food Bank?
Oxford community members who are not affiliated with UM should use Oxford Food Pantries.
